Kurt Peterson Biography
President and Owner of Myzeta, Inc.
Kurt Peterson is from Fonda, Iowa, and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He has been involved in the area of high energy lasers since 1982 working for Raytheon on the Sea Lite Beam Director (SLBD), a 1.8 meter diameter aperture laser pointer-tracker.
He supported factory acceptance testing of the SLBD in El Segundo, California, from 1982 until delivery to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico in 1985. Field integration of the SLBD with the Mid Infra Red Advanced Chemical Laser (MIRACL) culminated with an acquisition and high energy laser propagation shoot-down of a mach two Vandal missile where Mr. Peterson was the command and controls operator for the SLBD.
Mr. Peterson then provided system engineering support for extensive upgrade modifications to the SLBD that provided full aperture tracking capability in the presence of a high power laser beam. After that, Mr. Peterson provide SLBD tracking and imaging mission support as the customer and liaison representative performing mission analysis, planning, and coordination.
Mr. Peterson was the Field Test Interface for the Laser CIWS Testbed, which integrated a 50kW fiber laser onto the Phalanx weapon system for testing at WSMR. In this assignment, Mr. Peterson coordinated all field activities to include test site selection, preparation of test range documentation, safety procedures, and all coordination with Laser Clearinghouse.
In 2005 Mr. Peterson created Myzeta Inc., a small business in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to promote and sell FruChile® chutney. In 2009, Myzeta Inc. was expanded to provide technical services and database solutions.
Mr. Peterson currently coordinates all satellite predictive avoidance activities and documentation for the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility (HELSTF). He is also a team member supporting the HEL JTO in development of the next generation satellite deconfliction tool for use with laser beam director systems.
